We do this by using data about how and where you drive to make better decisions (rather than relying on credit score and other demographic factors), while delivering a delightful customer experience focused on building community and trust in financial services. 

Responsibilities

The Data Engineer will be responsible for facilitating the operations of our data scientists. This position is responsible for employing various techniques to create and sustain structures that allow for extraction, loading, and transformation of data with the purpose of analysis. In addition, this position requires familiarity with a programming language (preferably Python). This role is part of LOOP’s Engineering team.

  • Design and implement infrastructure that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed
  • Reformulate existing frameworks to optimize their functioning
  • Test existing frameworks to ensure that they are fit for use
  • Prepare raw data for manipulation by data scientists, primarily using the Extract, Load, and Transform (ELT) process
  • Remain up-to-date with industry standards and technological advancements that will improve the quality of your outputs 

Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years of experience
  • Experience working and implementing Data Lakes
  • Experience building data pipelines and automations
  • Experience with the Extract, Load, and Transform (ELT) process
  • Experience as a data engineer, software engineer, or similar preferred
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R; should pick up fast on Python if doesn’t know this language
  • Experience working with GCP’s BigQuery is a plus
  • Experience working with cloud messaging middlewares, such as GCP’s Pub/Sub and/or AWS’ Kinesis
  • Strong SQL experience, both in database design and implementation and in writing fast and efficient queries
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capacity to successfully manage a pipeline of duties with minimal supervision

This position is for full time, based in Austin TX with potential options of remote work.

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
